How to Make Your First Boudoir Session Powerfully Yours

March 26, 2021

Are you wondering what it would be like to do your very own boudoir session but not sure where to start or what to consider? We’re here to help! We’ve listed the top 10 things to think about before walking into your boudoir session.

Bring options. This is one time that I truly believe that more is more. The more options you bring to your shoot, the more variety we have to play with. What is going to make you feel powerful? Check out our blog post on What To Wear To Your Boudoir Session.

Spend time trying on and testing outfits. Trying on options in front of your mirror before your session will help you better prepare for your boudoir photoshoot.

Come cozy! Anything that could leave an imprint in your skin, leave behind. It may seem like a small thing, but these lines can dampen the look of a beautiful session. Besides, you want to relax and feel confident walking into your session, and tight clothes are only going to restrict you.

Period. It’s worth it to consider when your menstrual cycle is and schedule around that. The last thing you want is to walk into your session feeling bloated, crabby or crampy.

Water. In the days/week leading up to your shoot, drink all of the water. Cut out alcohol and salt to reduce unnecessary bloating or lumps. Don’t worry, we’ll give you some liquid courage once you’re on site 😉

Try it on. Trying on different options to find what fits your body type is going to work to your advantage. The number one key to success is to feel amazing in whatever you’re wearing.

Touch ups. Wondering when you should go for that spa day? Here is your encouragement to go do that. Get a mani/pedi, get your roots touched up, go tanning if that’s your vibe. I want you to have a single reason not to feel amazing walking into your boudoir photo session.

Relax. As your photographer, we will certainly help you with this. Remember that this is meant to be FUN. Do your breathing exercises, make a playlist that you can vibe with and come ready to CHILL.

Get your outfits ready. Make sure you’re not showing up with wrinkled outfits. Iron your lingerie pieces if necessary and bring them on a hanger.

Practice in the mirror. A good way to get comfortable with your body is to watch yourself in the mirror. Get comfortable seeing your body as it is. It’s important that you’re not walking into your session as your own worst critic.

You can practice getting comfortable with poses that suit you and relaxing your face BEFORE walking into your session. This will evoke more confidence in you as well.

Consider these steps and get ready to be filled with happiness.
